Overview

The Coding Specialist is responsible for overseeing the processing of clinic professional charges, updating procedure and diagnosis codes, and ensuring accurate billing and reimbursements.

• Maintain procedure and diagnosis code master file.
• Enter hospital surgeries and deliveries.
• Review hospital dictation for accurate coding.
• Monitor Medicare coding and reimbursements.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a course in Procedural Coding.
• Two years of experience in accounting coding practices.
• One year of medical coding experience.
• Knowledge of coding policies and reimbursement practices.
• Ability to examine documents for accuracy.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to work with patients and co-workers.
• Skill in using computer and calculator.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions.
