Assistant Chief Plan Examiner - Remote

Overview

The NYC Department of Buildings is responsible for ensuring the safe and lawful use of buildings and properties by enforcing the NYC Construction Codes, Energy Code and Zoning Resolution. This position performs supervisory work in engineering or architectural analysis of structures and building equipment systems, and the examination of plans for construction, alteration, or repair of buildings and equipment systems.

• Supervise and mentor plan examination personnel.
• Assign work and monitor team productivity.
• Administer quality control checks for project reviews.
• Facilitate resolution of objections and approvals.
• Assist in managing unit operations and workload management.
• Represent the Chief Plan Examiner at meetings.
• Conduct original plan examinations and zoning reviews.
• Evaluate performance of team members.
• Work location is citywide across various boroughs.
• Eligible for remote work up to 2 days per week.

Requirements

• Valid New York State Professional Engineer’s License or Architect Registration.
• Four years of experience in architecture or civil engineering.
• Experience must include building design or building equipment systems design.
• Master’s degree in civil engineering or architecture is preferred.
• Current registration must be maintained throughout employment.
