The Assistant Plan Examiner, Elevators is responsible for reviewing and examining elevator plans and specifications for compliance with building codes and regulations.

• Review jobs/applications submitted online for elevator projects.
• Examine designs for compliance with the Building Code.
• Interpret codes and regulations related to elevator work.
• Prepare reports and recommendations for permit issuance.
• Conduct research and investigations on elevator constructions.
• Meet applicants to discuss applications and code issues.
• Calculate fees and penalties for proposed elevator work.
• Respond to inquiries about code and plan examination.
• Perform fieldwork for code conformance determinations.
• Engage in additional duties as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or mechatronics.
• One year of full-time satisfactory experience in mechanical engineering work.
• Or a degree in mechanical engineering technology with three years of experience.
• Or a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in mechanical engineering or mechatronics.
