Overview

The Medical Assistant II at UMass Memorial Health is responsible for providing clinical care and performing clerical duties under the direction of licensed clinicians, supporting office and clinic functions.

In Short

• Escorts patients to examination rooms and records vital signs.
• Collects and documents patient health status and history.
• Performs EKGs, phlebotomy, and Point of Care tests.
• May administer non-intravenous injections as required.
• Assists in routine physical examinations and clinical procedures.
• Reviews laboratory results and communicates abnormalities to physicians.
• Works under the supervision of healthcare providers.
• Participates in workplace education and training.
• Maintains standards of respect and care within the team.
• Contributes to the overall mission of patient care at UMass Memorial Health.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Medical Assistant credential approved by the Massachusetts Department of Health.
• Ability to obtain BLS/HS certification within 3 months of hire.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to patient care and teamwork.
• Willingness to work flexible hours as required.
• Ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality.
• Must align with the Standards of Respect of UMass Memorial Health.
