Overview

The Patient Financial Services Specialist is responsible for efficient and timely billing and collections of hospital outstanding balances, working within a large multi-facility healthcare system.

In Short

  • Utilizes the Epic Hospital Billing System for account management.
  • Handles billing, denial, and follow-up activities for claims.
  • Contacts insurance carriers regarding claim statuses.
  • Documents all actions taken within the EPIC system.
  • Resolves complex accounts and resubmits claims as necessary.
  • Works independently and meets established productivity requirements.
  • Maintains compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Participates in necessary training sessions for the billing system.
  • Identifies and escalates problem accounts to management.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED required.
  • At least five years of accounts receivable experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Epic Hospital Billing workflows.
  • Excellent attention to detail and prioritization skills.
  • Professional communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Experience in Revenue Cycle Accounts Receivable preferred.
