Data Platform Engineer - Remote

Overview

As one of Benchling's Data Platform engineers, you will join a rapidly growing engineering team and form the foundation of our data pillar, encompassing customer-facing products and internal-developer services/tools. You will build the next generation of our Data Platform services that enable internal developers to build multi-tenant applications/services that consume near real-time data-changes.

In Short

• Own projects end-to-end, from initial design, to prototype, to large-scale rollout.
• Build & operate high throughput distributed messaging platform like Kafka/kinesis.
• Define and design data transformations and pipelines for cross-functional datasets.
• Define the right Service Level Objectives for the batch & streaming pipelines.
• Designing and creating CI/CD pipelines for platform provisioning.
• Work closely with the team across Application and Platform.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Experience with data processing technologies like Kafka, Kinesis, Spark, Flink.
• Experience in schema design, SQL & Schema registry.
• Experience in building and operating Search System like Elastic.
• Strong experience with scripting language (such as Python).
• Experience with deployment and configuration management frameworks.
• Driven by creating positive impact for customers.
• Strong communicator with both words and data.
