Overview

Backblaze is seeking a Payroll Manager to ensure accurate payroll processing and manage the company’s sales commission tool software across the United States and Canada.

In Short

• Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
• Manage and enhance the sales commission tool software.
• Serve as the first point of contact for payroll inquiries.
• Support equity administration processing of awards.
• Maintain strong internal controls for payroll processes.
• Prepare payroll-related journal entries and support month-end close.
• Stay updated on employment tax and overtime rules.
• Collaborate with HR, Finance, Legal, and vendors for audits.
• Identify and resolve payroll issues.
• Support testing and implementation of new systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of payroll experience in a high-growth environment.
• Strong experience with equity compensation processing.
• Familiarity with payroll impacts of equity transactions.
• Experience managing sales compensation plans.
• ADP Workforce Now expertise required.
• Advanced Excel skills required.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities.
• In-depth knowledge of employment and payroll laws.
