Accounting Manager - Remote

Overview

Backblaze is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our growing finance team, overseeing key accounting operations with a focus on fixed assets, leases, and payroll.

In Short

• Manage key accounting functions including fixed assets, lease accounting, and payroll.
• Oversee fixed asset accounting using NetSuite and the Netgain Fixed Asset Module (FAM).
• Ensure compliance with ASC 842 for lease accounting.
• Collaborate with the People team on payroll accounting and reporting via Rippling.
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes.
• Ensure SOX compliance and monitor internal controls.
• Support external audit requests and interact with auditors.
• Drive process improvement and system optimization initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required or preferred.
• 6–9 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory roles.
• Expertise in fixed assets, lease accounting, and payroll.
• Proficiency in NetSuite or similar accounting systems.
• Experience with Netgain FAM and Rippling is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of SOX compliance and internal controls.
• Big 4 public accounting background preferred.
• Strong communication skills for presenting financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
