In Short

  • Lead the Platform Engineering team at Whatnot.
  • Develop and maintain scalable backend platforms.
  • Hire and develop engineers across all platform applications.
  • Collaborate with product and infrastructure engineering teams.
  • Plan and manage projects aligning team goals with business objectives.
  • Ensure a stable and secure customer experience.
  • Advocate for technical platform solutions.
  • Guide engineers through career development.
  • Manage stakeholders and competing priorities.
  • Foster a culture of problem-solving and innovation.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with public cloud environments (AWS, GCP).
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and IaC tools like Terraform.
  • Previous experience at a hyper-growth startup.
  • Technical leadership in large distributed systems.
  • Ability to recruit, mentor, and retain high-performing teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and self-starter attitude.
  • Experience managing stakeholders and dealing with ambiguity.
  • Low ego and good judgment in making trade-offs.
  • Substantial hands-on experience in the relevant field.
