Overview

Wealthsimple is looking for a Legal Counsel, Payments to join our Neobanking regulatory team. This role will support the development, commercialization, and regulatory alignment of Wealthsimple’s payment products and infrastructure.

In Short

• Lead legal advocacy efforts in the payments space.
• Provide legal and strategic advice on payments law.
• Support regulatory initiatives and ongoing compliance.
• Draft and review client-facing terms and conditions.
• Collaborate on legal aspects of product development.
• Assist with resolving complex client complaints.

Requirements

• 4+ years of legal experience in competition, consumer protection, or payments law.
• Experience in a heavily regulated industry or law firm.
• Advocacy experience on competition and consumer protection issues.
• Experience working with regulators to advance business objectives.
• Strong communication skills to distill complex legal topics.
• Collaborative and proactive mindset.
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity in regulatory frameworks.
• Strategic thinker with a builder mentality.
