Staff Software Engineer – Platform & Architecture - Remote

In Short

• Own the technical architecture of Wander’s core platform.
• Define and evolve the technical north star for various systems.
• Drive patterns for service boundaries, observability, testing, and CI/CD.
• Mentor staff and senior engineers in a fully remote culture.
• Partner with product and data teams for cross-functional initiatives.
• Guide the team through capacity planning and performance tuning.
• Shape internal platforms and documentation for new hires.

Requirements

• Experience at Staff level or higher for several years.
• Success in designing extensible, composable service architectures.
• Deep experience with TypeScript & Node.js.
• Mastery of PostgreSQL and event-driven patterns.
• Experience with cloud-native infrastructure (GCP, AWS, Azure).
• Embedding observability into workflows.
• Comfort with monorepos and build pipelines.
• Experience with LLM or AI service integration is a plus.
• Proven mentoring and communication skills.
