Financial Controller - Remote

Overview

We’re looking for a strategic and detail-oriented Controller to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will play a critical role in shaping and managing our accounting infrastructure, financial reporting, and internal controls.

In Short

• Oversee all financial accounting and reporting for Walrus Foundation and its subsidiaries.
• Take global ownership of operational accounting, tax, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Expert in US GAAP and IFRS standards, manage A/R, A/P, and monthly close.
• Oversee tax compliance and planning efforts across multiple entities.
• Evaluate new accounting pronouncements and assess their impact.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Oversee teams of external advisors for specific financial processes.
• Play a key role in expanding the company’s global footprint.
• Cultivate relationships with external accounting and audit firms.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 7+ years of direct professional experience, with 3 years in public accounting.
• Prior experience in financial services, fintech, or crypto preferred.
• Experience with accounting systems such as NetSuite and Bill.com.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Natural curiosity and a drive to learn by doing.
• Strong technical accounting background; digital assets experience is a plus.
• Willingness to work with international teams across multiple time zones.
• CPA certification preferred.
