Senior Backend Developer - Remote

Overview

As a Senior Backend Developer at Varsity Brands, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality backend solutions for our Yearbook Technology team while working remotely.

In Short

• Design and develop backend services using Java and related frameworks.
• Build and optimize RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
• Work with AWS services including Lambda, EC2, S3, and RDS.
• Implement containerization solutions using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers for integration of user-facing elements.
• Participate in code reviews and mentor junior engineers.
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement fixes.
• Continuously improve development processes and infrastructure.
• Work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Contribute to open-source projects (preferred).

Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java and related frameworks.
• Deep understanding of RESTful API design principles.
• Extensive experience with AWS services.
• Experience with infrastructure as code using CloudFormation or Terraform.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong understanding of database design and SQL/NoSQL.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Education in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
