Senior Inpatient Coder - Remote

Overview

The Senior Inpatient Coder is responsible for accurately coding hospital inpatient accounts to ensure appropriate reimbursement, compliance, and research, following established coding classification systems.

In Short

• Analyze, code, and abstract complex inpatient cases.
• Utilize ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS nomenclature.
• Maintain coding accuracy and productivity rates.
• Communicate with various hospital departments.
• Comply with AHIMA standards of ethical coding.
• Support UMMS mission and perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent; formal ICD-10-CM and CPT training preferred.
• Minimum three years of ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS coding experience.
• Certification as CCS, RHIT, RHIA, or CIC required.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
