Overview

The System Administration Manager manages and provides technical leadership for the Computer Science Department's Technical Staff, overseeing a diverse set of computer-based services in support of research, teaching, and administration.

In Short

  • Manage and provide technical leadership for the Computer Science Department's Technical Staff.
  • Responsible for long-term planning and requirement specification in departmental computing.
  • Oversee computer infrastructure including Linux and Apple machines.
  • Collaborate with IT teams and manage IT needs for the department.
  • Assist faculty with advanced research computing needs.
  • Work with the Computing Committee to identify issues and opportunities in departmental research computing.
  • Ensure implementation of best practices and IT policies.
  • Maintain accurate logs and ensure project oversight.
  • Manage a team and establish performance goals.
  • Perform other related work as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7+ years of work experience in a related job discipline.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science preferred.
  • Experience managing networked servers and workstations.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP network services and system utilities.
  • Direct experience with Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, Ruby, C, C++, and Bash.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies and data security.
  • Experience with LDAP directory systems.
  • Ability to train and assist team members.
  • Integrity and credibility to work with sensitive data.
