Overview

The UAMS Department of Pathology is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Laboratory Procedure Technician, focusing on tissue processing and documentation in a hospital setting.

In Short

  • Assist in tissue processing in the lab.
  • Ensure correct documentation for patients in the morgue.
  • Handle specimens of various sizes.
  • Perform postmortem examinations assistance.
  • Maintain cleanliness and setup of autopsies.
  • Accession specimens for Surgical Pathology.
  • Dictate gross descriptions of various specimens.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on lab equipment.
  • Work on occasional weekends and rotate on-call duties.
  • Collaborate with Pathology residents and Pathologists.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in laboratory science or equivalent.
  • 24 credit hours in Medical Technology or Science Courses.
  • 6 credit hours of Biology and Chemistry.
  • Preferred: 1 year experience as a grossing tech or assistant.
  • Professional License/Certification (ASCP or equivalent).
  • Experience in a hospital setting.
  • EPIC training is a plus.
