Overview

The Emergency Department Front Desk Access Coordinator II is responsible for greeting and assisting the public, coordinating appointments, and managing patient check-in and check-out processes in a healthcare setting.

In Short

• Meet, greet, and assist the public at the emergency department front desk.
• Coordinate appointments, referrals, consults, tests, and procedures.
• Check-in and register patients, collect payments, and issue receipts.
• Work evenings/nights and every other weekend.
• Utilize computer systems, preferably MS Office, for various tasks.
• Provide excellent customer service and telephone etiquette.
• Verify insurance coverage and respond to third-party payor requirements.
• Assist with hospital admissions and surgery scheduling.
• Maintain knowledge of basic medical terminology.
• Participate in career training and educational opportunities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two years of customer service or healthcare experience.
• Basic computer proficiency, preferably in MS Office.
• Excellent telephone etiquette skills.
• General knowledge of office machines.
• Registration experience is preferred.
• Medical terminology knowledge preferred, or competent within three months of hire.
