Assistant Divisional Controller – Reinsurance Accounting - Remote

Overview

The Assistant Divisional Controller – Reinsurance Accounting is accountable for the reinsurance accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported reinsurance financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and statutory accounting principles (SAP).

• Ensures month-end reinsurance accounting financial statements are completed accurately.
• Leads the monthly reinsurance accounting close cadence.
• Identifies manual processes for automation to improve efficiency.
• Ensures that reinsurance cessions are calculated correctly.
• Participates in the annual audit process.
• Collaborates with other accounting team members.
• Mentors accounting staff on Microsoft GP and accounting concepts.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge through workshops.
• Manages the control process for reinsurance accounts.
• Designs and implements processes and controls.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
• 10+ years’ progressive accounting responsibility.
• Experience in ceded reinsurance accounting required.
• Ability to multi-task and learn quickly.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong skills in Excel and transactional systems.
• CPA or in progress preferred.
• Knowledge of statutory preparation software is helpful.
• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Advanced skills in Excel including MACROS and Power BI.
