Overview

The Specialty Casualty Senior Claims Examiner is responsible for investigating and evaluating losses, expenses, and coverage related to policies issued under the Commercial General Liability program, particularly for high-value exposures or intricate coverage evaluations.

In Short

• Manage daily workflow to process claims timely.
• Instruct and manage third-party investigative staff and attorneys.
• Set reserves and negotiate settlements within authority level.
• Investigate claims through communications with insureds and third parties.
• Evaluate coverage related to claims and articulate coverage positions.
• Adhere to regulatory rules unique to claim venues.
• Travel on behalf of the carrier approximately 20% of the time.
• Act as manager in their absence regarding file assignments.
• Perform other activities and duties as needed.
• Eligible for remote or hybrid work arrangement.

Requirements

• Knowledge of commercial casualty insurance concepts.
• Understanding of the carrier's philosophy for servicing claims.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software.
• Professional communication and timely claims handling required.
• College degree preferred or related insurance experience.
• Seven to ten years of claims handling experience.
