Overview

The Deputy General Counsel - Real Estate is a vital part of the team devoted to preserving and creating affordable housing resources. This legal support facilitates affordable housing resources for low-income households. The incumbent will provide strategic and comprehensive legal advice and support to the company’s ambitious and complex multi-million-dollar real estate development initiatives from the initiation of the development concept through the financial closing.

• Manage the Real Estate Team, including attorneys and administrative support staff.
• Provide legal counsel on mixed-finance, mixed-use, multi-family residential, and commercial developments.
• Prepare legal and transactional documents for real estate closings.
• Perform due diligence reviews of closing and loan documents.
• Draft, review, and negotiate business contracts and agreements.
• Advise senior executives on legal issues related to real estate initiatives.
• Interpret laws and confer with outside counsel on real estate matters.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to subordinate attorneys and staff.
• Assist in corporate counsel responsibilities related to the governing Board and Business Units.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
• 15+ years of experience in complex real estate transactions.
• Membership in good standing with the Georgia Bar Association.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple legal matters with shifting priorities.
• Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities.
• Proficiency in current office technology and software applications.
