Overview

The Governing Power Organizer will support the development and execution of electoral campaigns within SURJ’s National Organizing Department (NOD) in the fight to prevent a full-on authoritarian consolidation and win back governing power.

In Short

  • Participate in regular outreach to NOD’s existing base of members and leaders.
  • Hold 1:1s weekly with members and leaders.
  • Build trust with members and volunteers.
  • Recruit new National Members and grassroots donors.
  • Identify and recruit members for campaigns.
  • Support the development of political education and skills trainings.
  • Maintain communication with colleagues via remote platforms.
  • Complete monthly timesheets and reimbursement requests.
  • Participate in weekly staff and coordination meetings.
  • Support the execution of NOD’s distributed electoral campaigns.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience with volunteer recruitment and management.
  • Demonstrated ability in developing member leaders.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Familiarity with online organizing tools.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for in-person meetings.
  • Knowledge of organizing on issues of racial justice.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with curriculum development.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
