Stears is a Pan African data company that provides insights and data for global funds investing in Africa. We are looking for a Head of Engineering to build a high-performing team and cultivate a strong engineering culture.

Requirements

• Experience communicating complex ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience leading and coaching software and data teams.
• Experience hiring and managing software engineers.
• Experience working with agile teams using scrum or XP methodologies.
• At least 6 years of hands-on software development experience.
• Knowledge of modern cloud deployment tools (AWS, GKE, etc).
• Familiarity with modern application programming frameworks (React, NodeJS, Python).
• Experience with automated testing and continuous integration.
• Interest or experience in AI/ML.
• Experience with databases and schema design (SQL & NoSQL).
