Overview

As a Data Scientist at Shippo, you will uncover insights that drive our data product strategy, leveraging analytical expertise to translate raw data into actionable insights.

In Short

• Analyze shipping data to identify opportunities for new product features and improvements.
• Investigate trends in carrier performance, delivery times, and shipping costs.
• Build data-driven prototypes for predictive delivery estimates and cost-saving tools.
• Present findings to Product and Engineering teams to inform product strategy.
• Develop and maintain self-serve dashboards for internal teams and customers.
• Collaborate with Engineering to improve data pipelines and models.
• Support A/B testing and provide actionable recommendations.
• Use SQL and Python to analyze data from multiple sources.
• Communicate analytical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Gather business requirements and translate them into data-driven solutions.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in data analytics, data science, or a related role.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Analytics, Statistics, or a related STEM field.
• Strong proficiency in SQL for querying large datasets.
• Experience with BI tools like Sigma, Looker, or Tableau.
• Practical application of data wrangling and exploratory data analysis.
• Ability to translate business questions into structured analytical problems.
• Understanding of statistical methods and machine learning techniques.
• Proficiency with Python for data analysis.
• Excellent communication skills for presenting findings.
