Overview

The HIM Hospital Inpatient Coding Analyst is responsible for interpreting provider documentation and assigning diagnostic information for acute care services, ensuring compliance and accuracy in coding practices.

• Deciphers and interprets provider documentation in health records.
• Assigns diagnostic information using ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT codes.
• Performs audits and provides feedback to clinical teams.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Coding Certification from AHIMA or AAPC.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and coding systems.
• Ability to apply complex coding and billing requirements.
• Proficiency in using coding software and health information systems.
• Excellent communication and analytical skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
• Demonstrated acute care facility coding experience preferred.
• Associate degree or higher in a related field is preferred.
• Experience with EPIC EHR and 3M 360 CAC is a plus.
