Remote Tax Director, CPA

Overview

A CPA and Consulting firm is looking for a forward-thinking Tax Director who can design and execute innovative tax strategies that maximize profitability, ensure compliance, and strengthen the financial health of the firm's clients. This role reports directly to the CEO, works closely with executive leadership, and is central to shaping the firm’s tax advisory service line.

In Short

• Build and lead the firm's tax advisory function.
• Develop comprehensive tax strategies tailored to businesses.
• Lead tax planning for mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings.
• Oversee preparation and review of financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.
• Identify and leverage supplemental payment programs.
• Partner with Finance, Legal, and Operations teams.
• Manage relationships with external tax advisors and auditors.
• Supervise senior managers and below.
• Remote work environment with flexible hours.

Requirements

• 7+ years of progressive tax experience.
• Proven track record in strategic tax planning and compliance.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations.
• Experience advising executive leadership on tax strategy.
• CPA license or JD strongly preferred.
• Expertise in QuickBooks, UltraTax, and Excel.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Prior leadership experience in a mid-sized firm.
