Solar PV Designer - Remote

Overview

We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced PV (Photovoltaic) Designer to join our growing solar design team. The main responsibility of this role is to prepare permit-ready plan sets for residential solar installations in the U.S., ensuring accuracy, code compliance, and quality.

In Short

• Design residential solar (PV) systems that comply with jurisdictional and utility requirements
• Review completed site audits including structural and electrical evaluations
• Adjust or re-draw solar layouts based on roof constraints, auditor notes, and code updates
• Select appropriate solar components and system configurations
• Coordinate with U.S. authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) to ensure permit approval
• Revise and finalize plan sets as needed based on feedback from internal teams or jurisdictions
• Stay current on local building, fire, and electrical codes as well as utility requirements

Requirements

• At least 1 year of intensive CAD experience (AutoCAD)
• Electrical Engineer
• Minimum of 3 years in a solar design or similar technical role
• Knowledge of construction documents, blueprints, and U.S. building codes
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
• Familiarity with NEC (National Electrical Code) as applied to PV design
• Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently
• Professional written and verbal English communication
• Positive attitude, team player, and adaptable to changing priorities or deadlines
