Senior Staff Accountant - Remote

Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The role will assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements, verify financial records and transactions, support audit preparation and documentation, and manage and complete various regulatory reporting. When we hire junior accountants, this role will also be responsible for training new staff and monitoring their work for accuracy. Our ideal candidate has at least five years of professional accounting experience with a track record for providing accurate and efficient work.

In Short

• Manage the general ledger and assist month-end and year-end close processes
• Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries
• Ensure the integrity of accounting information
• Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts
• Assist with external audits
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and policies
• Analyze financial data to identify trends and opportunities
• Collaborate cross-functionally with departments
• Support special projects including system implementations
• Train junior accountants

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Master’s in Accounting/Finance or MBA is a plus)
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, or working toward completion
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in public accounting
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting standards
• Proven experience with month-end and year-end close processes
• Advanced proficiency in accounting software/ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle)
• High-level Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
• Experience preparing and analyzing financial statements
• Strong understanding of internal controls and compliance requirements
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills
