Community Advocate - Remote

Overview

The Community Advocate works directly with survivors of domestic violence, providing emotional support, advocacy, and assistance in navigating complex systems towards healing.

In Short

• Serve as an advocate for community members facing various challenges.
• Conduct intakes and provide emotional support during court hearings.
• Collaborate with community partners to ensure access to services.
• Maintain detailed records in accordance with confidentiality guidelines.
• Develop relationships with local agencies and resources.
• Participate in community events and support groups.
• Work within a trauma-informed and strength-based framework.
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal and crisis intervention skills.
• Adapt to the needs of survivors and manage multiple cases.
• Fluency in Spanish is highly preferred.

• Strong communication and active listening skills.
• Knowledge of domestic violence dynamics and available resources.
• Ability to work in crisis situations.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally.
• Experience with diverse caseloads and varying needs.
• Background checks are required.
• Ability to manage flexible schedules for survivor appointments.
• Experience in community advocacy is a plus.
• Understanding of cultural backgrounds and respect for differences.
