Senior Oracle Database Administrator - Remote

Overview

The Senior Database Administrator will work as part of a team to supply complete support for all aspects of managed database and application infrastructure operations to a variety of Pythian’s customers.

In Short

• Coordinate, analyze, design, implement, and administer database solutions.
• Analyze customer’s infrastructure and recommend best practices for operational processes.
• Administer backup procedures and disaster recovery plans.
• Oversee backup, clustering, mirroring, replication, failover, and restoration of databases.
• Assist with Incident Management, Problem Management, and Problem Resolution.
• Prepare customer status and incident reports.
• Maintain customer-specific assets.
• Enhance Pythian tools and processes.
• Participate in sales support activities.
• Contribute to Pythian’s external profile and marketing collateral.

Requirements

• 5 to 8 years of experience managing Oracle databases.
• Curiosity mindset and tenacity for diagnosing issues.
• Troubleshooting and performance improvement skills.
• Understanding of database security management.
• Experience managing logical and physical standby databases.
• Knowledge of Oracle DataGuard and GoldenGate.
• Required knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Manager.
• Basic Linux knowledge.
