PostgreSQL Administrator - Remote

Overview

The PostgreSQL Administrator will be responsible for providing comprehensive support for database and application infrastructure, working collaboratively with customer teams to address their needs.

• Work as part of Pythian's open source team.
• Provide support for database and application infrastructure.
• Collaborate with customer teams for project-based and long-term support.
• Create and document database standards and optimized queries.
• Monitor and support database environments.
• Diagnose and address database performance issues.
• Recommend improvement suggestions.
• Engage in cross-functional training in NoSQL and DevOps.
• Author blog posts and create knowledge base articles.
• Participate in conferences and meetups promoting Pythian.

Requirements

• Experience in PostgreSQL & MySQL installation, configuration, and upgrades.
• Experience in virtualized and cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Knowledge of scripting (bash/python) and software development (C++, Java, Go).
• Experience with automation technologies (Ansible, Terraform, etc.).
• Good debugging and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong documentation skills.
• Understanding of IT service standards like ITIL is a plus.
• Experience in contributing to Open Source projects is a plus.
