Principal Traffic Engineer - Remote

Overview

Join one of the most diverse and innovative engineering design teams with multiple specialties within the transportation sector. The Port Authority’s airports, ports, ferries, tunnels, bridges, bus terminals and rail transportation systems are important transportation links in the region. The Traffic Engineering unit within the Engineering/Architecture Design Division serves a unique role within the Port Authority by providing engineering planning, operation and design services throughout the Agency with close coordination with external stakeholders, including Federal, State and local transportation and regulatory agencies. This is a full-time position with an expectation of being in the office at least four days per week.

• Manage traffic engineering design delivery for capital improvement projects.
• Direct facility traffic operations support for PANYNJ Facilities.
• Manage regional transportation system coordination and real-time traffic management operations.
• Oversee the Agency's transportation technology program.
• Supervise technical staff and manage project teams.
• Conduct quality control and monitor work progress.
• Mentor junior staff and promote professional development.
• Interface with other engineering groups and stakeholders.
• Develop cost estimates and manage consultant contracts.
• Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Transportation Engineering.
• Professional Engineer License (P.E.) in New York or New Jersey.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in Traffic Engineering.
• Experience in traffic planning studies and geometric design.
• Leadership experience managing diverse teams.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Valid Driver's License.
