The Office of the Secretary (OSEC) Internship at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting the governance and executive functions of one of the nation’s largest and most complex transportation agencies. The Office of the Secretary plays a critical role in supporting the Board of Commissioners, ensuring effective decision-making, transparency, and coordination across the agency. Interns will work closely with a collaborative, fast-paced team and contribute to meaningful projects that directly support Board operations, process improvement initiatives, and agencywide planning efforts. This internship provides exposure to executive-level workflows, public-sector governance, and cross-departmental coordination, making it an excellent opportunity for students interested in public administration, policy, business operations, or government. Through this experience, interns will develop a strong understanding of public-sector governance and Board operations, gain practical experience in project coordination and process improvement, and build foundational skills in budgeting, financial analysis, and administrative management. Interns will also strengthen their written and verbal communication skills, learn how to collaborate across departments, and gain insight into how executive offices support large-scale organizational decision-making. This internship provides the opportunity to acquire valuable professional experience and a deeper understanding of how complex public agencies operate at the executive and governance level.
