Overview

The Patient AR Follow-Up Representative is responsible for managing patient accounts receivable, following up on outstanding balances, and ensuring timely payments.

In Short

  • Contact patients to discuss outstanding balances and arrange payment plans.
  • Provide clear explanations of charges and patient financial responsibilities.
  • Verify patient account details for accuracy.
  • Address patient inquiries regarding billing statements and payment discrepancies.
  • Research and resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Collect payments and post transactions accurately.
  • Offer and set up payment plans.
  • Document all patient interactions and account updates.
  • Generate reports on accounts receivable metrics.
  • Identify trends in patient account issues.

Requirements

  • Ability to handle patient billing inquiries professionally.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to identify and resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with EHR systems and billing software.
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in accounts receivable or healthcare administration.
  • Knowledge of insurance billing processes.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations.
  • Certification in medical billing or coding is a plus.
