As a Backend / AI Engineer, you will work at the core of our product: building robust services, developing intelligent interfaces to LLMs, and ensuring that complex AI functionalities are reliably and efficiently integrated into everyday teaching.

In Short

• Design and implement features based on Large Language Models and related NLP methods.
• Develop performant, secure, and scalable services in Next.js (API-first).
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Frontend teams.
• Apply clean engineering practices in a startup setup.
• Stay updated on new AI approaches and pragmatically implement them.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in backend engineering with modern web applications (Node.js, Next.js, TypeScript).
• Experience with LLMs, Conversational AI, RAG pipelines, or frameworks like LangChain.
• Proficiency in API design, databases (SQL/NoSQL/Vector), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD.
• Analytical thinking to find simple solutions for complex problems.
• A team player mentality with a willingness to take on responsibility.
• Fluent in German and very good English.
