Next.js Backend / AI Developer - Remote

As a Backend / AI Developer, you will work at the core of our product: you will build robust services, develop intelligent interfaces to LLMs, and ensure that complex AI functionalities are reliably and performantly integrated into the teaching process.

In Short

• Design and implement features based on Large Language Models and related NLP methods.
• Develop performant, secure, and scalable services in Next.js (API-first).
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Frontend teams.
• Apply clean engineering practices in a startup setup.
• Stay updated on new AI approaches and pragmatically evaluate them.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in backend engineering (Node.js, Next.js, TypeScript).
• Experience with LLMs, Conversational AI, and RAG pipelines.
• Proficient in API design, databases (SQL/NoSQL/Vector), and CI/CD.
• Strong analytical skills to solve complex problems.
• Team player mentality with a willingness to take responsibility.
• Fluent in German and very good English.
