Overview

Otto Aviation is seeking a dynamic engineer to join our Aircraft Integration Team. The ideal candidate will have a background in performing systems safety analyses throughout the lifecycle of an aircraft development program. You will be joining a team developing the world’s most efficient aircraft.

In Short

  • Be a functioning team member within Otto’s Aircraft Integration Team.
  • Define Systems Safety processes, policies, procedures, and necessary software solutions.
  • Develop Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analyses (FMECA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Hazard Reports, reliability analysis, etc. and mitigation plans.
  • Assess engineering documents, data, and artifacts to ensure component and system level safety compliance; identify and mitigate potential and existing hazards.
  • Coordinate directly with system owners to identify areas of opportunity for design improvements.
  • Plan, define, and verify system safety requirements and develop safety analysis artifacts.
  • Establish safety tools and procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency for production process planning.
  • Perform and participate in trade studies to influence key aircraft decisions.
  • Give regular presentations showing findings, updates, and systems safety inputs.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of dedicated systems safety aerospace experience.
  • Familiarity with the civil safety process defined in SAE ARP-4761 and ARP-4754.
  • Direct experience in SAE ARP4761 analyses.
  • Direct Experience in MIL-STD-882 analyses.
  • Basic skills in CATIA V5/V6/3DX (or similar); 3DX is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Overall knowledge of mechanical systems, propulsion, structures, avionics, and key interfaces to aircraft systems.
  • Knowledge of industry standards with hands-on experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
