Technical Writer - Remote

Overview

The Open Home Foundation is seeking a passionate technical writer, based in Europe, to join our Home Assistant department as a full-time Technical Writer. This team is responsible for the open development, maintenance, and enhancement of the Home Assistant platform; supporting new functionality aligned with our roadmap and enabling the wider community to contribute and innovate easily.

In Short

• Write and maintain technical documentation for Home Assistant.
• Apply and reinforce documentation standards for consistency.
• Update existing documentation to reflect changes.
• Collaborate with engineers and product teams.
• Support community contributors in documentation.
• Review and edit content for clarity and style.
• Incorporate user-reported issues and feedback.
• Maintain a Home Assistant test environment.

Requirements

• 3+ years of technical writing experience.
• Proven ability to produce clear, structured content.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Strong experience in a remote, asynchronous environment.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Affinity with developer tooling like Visual Studio Code and GitHub.
• Professional fluency in English.
• European residency and eligibility to work.
