Junior Software Development Engineer - Backend, Trust and Safety - Remote

Overview

As a Junior Software Development Engineer on the Trust and Safety team, you will own features from concept to fruition, writing well-architected and thoroughly tested code while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance fraud detection and operational excellence.

• Collaborate with risk analysts, data science, and operations teams.
• Analyze attacker techniques to implement proactive solutions.
• Drive engineering excellence across the Trust & Safety engineering team.
• Work with OfferUp-wide engineering teams to improve processes.
• Develop scalable classifiers and tools using machine learning.
• Identify opportunities to replace or rebuild legacy systems.
• Participate in on-call rotations with the team.
• Support and mentor other engineers.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience with data analysis and business recommendations.
• Strong coding skills in Java, Python, Scala, Golang, or similar.
• BS or MS in Computer Science or related field.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.
