Junior Backend Software Development Engineer - Remote

OfferUp is looking for a backend Junior Software Development Engineer to join the Verticals team. The verticals team, responsible for jobs, rentals, and services in OfferUp, plays a crucial role in the marketplace's overall success. Your work directly influences user satisfaction and the platform's ability to meet diverse user needs across different categories, making you an integral part of our success.

In Short

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams across OfferUp to design and implement new features.
• Help maintain code quality in existing applications.
• Create solutions and/or frameworks that make other team members better and faster.
• Participate in reasonable on-call rotations with the rest of the team.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, of which at least 1 was devoted to web services.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure via AWS.
• Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive, and a track record of delivery.
• Passion for building new products in a fast paced, team-oriented environment.
• Strong coding skills in Java, Python, Scala, Golang or any other modern programming language coupled with strong knowledge in object-oriented design and microservices architecture.
• BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer/Software Engineering, Information Systems/Technology, Information Science, or a related discipline.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken (fluency in English required).
