Overview

A Database Administrator II is responsible for the performance, integrity and security of the databases to support the computing environment. This role involves working through project-related activities and day-to-day operational tasks related to the database systems.

In Short

  • Install, configure, patch, and upgrade Oracle and SQL Server databases.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance.
  • Write, debug, and tune complex SQL and PL/SQL or T-SQL queries.
  • Manage and test backup and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Configure and support high availability solutions.
  • Participate in weekly rotating on-call shifts.
  • Use a ticketing system to manage and prioritize tasks.
  • Collaborate with development, operations, and infrastructure teams.
  • Support additional RDBMS platforms as needed.
  • Work independently and proactively engage in team activities.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a DBA supporting Oracle and SQL Server.
  • Strong SQL, PL/SQL, and/or T-SQL skills.
  • Experience with backup and recovery, replication, and high availability.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Willingness to work on-call and during off-hours.
  • Experience using ticketing and version control systems.
  • College degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years database administration experience.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
