Overview

The Customer Service Specialist will be responsible for receiving and triaging all incoming patient and insurance calls, initiating outbound calls, and addressing questions and concerns regarding patient accounts through other platforms, as needed.

In Short

  • Handle a high volume of in and outbound phone calls collecting past due balances from patients.
  • Research overdue account balances and follow up by mail and/or phone.
  • Respond promptly to patient inquiries with clear communication.
  • Document customer accounts thoroughly.
  • Resolve discrepancies and prepare adjustments and refunds.
  • Enter all collection activity information accurately into the system.
  • Bring recurring issues to the attention of the department manager.
  • Conduct duties with empathy and professionalism.
  • Evaluate and identify priority accounts.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Basic level mathematical proficiency and spreadsheet data understanding.
  • 1 year of patient collections experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written customer service skills.
  • Ability to meet critical deadlines.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook.
  • Strong interpersonal relations, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle competing priorities.
  • Proficient in necessary computer skills and knowledge of computerized billing systems.
  • Positive attitude to enhance a cooperative work environment.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
