Coding Specialist I - Remote

Overview

The Coding Specialist I reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

In Short

• Utilizes technical coding expertise to review the medical record thoroughly.
• Assigns appropriate CPT and ICD10 codes with a minimum of 95% accuracy.
• Provides documentation feedback to physicians.
• Trains physicians and other staff regarding documentation, billing, and coding.
• Attends meetings and educational roundtables.
• Resolves pre-accounts receivable edits and identifies documentation problems.
• Collaborates with Patient Accounting and other operational areas.
• Meets established minimum coding productivity and quality standards.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or equivalent certification.
• Zero to two years experience in a relevant role.
• 94% accuracy on the organization's coding test.
