Coding Specialist II - Remote

Overview

The Coding Specialist II reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

In Short

• Perform CPT and ICD10 coding through abstraction of medical records.
• Focus on complex encounters and expertise in HCPCs procedural codes.
• Collaborate with providers and clinical areas for accurate documentation.
• Train physicians and staff on documentation, billing, and coding.
• Ensure coding accuracy with a minimum of 95% compliance.
• Resolve coding edits and maintain coding reference information.
• Communicate new guidelines and provide documentation feedback.
• Participate in educational meetings and roundtables.
• Assist with appeals for incorrect claims.
• Maintain productivity and quality standards.

Requirements

• Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), RHIT, or CPC certification required.
• 0-2 years of experience in a relevant role.
• 94% accuracy on the organization’s coding test.
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Health Information Management preferred.
• Previous experience with physician coding preferred.
