Overview

The Clinical Pharmacist at Newton-Wellesley Hospital is responsible for the interpretation, verification, order entry, compounding, and dispensing of pharmaceuticals for various patient demographics. This role emphasizes patient safety and effective medication use.

• Position: Per Diem Clinical Pharmacist for overnight shifts (10PM-8AM)
• Responsible for interpreting and evaluating medication orders
• Monitors for drug interactions and adverse reactions
• Provides drug information and patient counseling
• Oversees pharmacy technician activities
• Compounds extemporaneous medications and prepares IV admixtures
• Maintains compliance with pharmacy laws and standards
• Participates in interdisciplinary patient care rounds
• Requires a Bachelor of Science or Doctorate in Pharmacy
• 1-4 years of clinical pharmacy experience required

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy or Doctorate of Pharmacy
• Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy Licensure
• 1-4 years clinical pharmacy experience in acute care hospital
• Completion of ASHP accredited Pharmacy Residency preferred
• Board Certification preferred
• Knowledge of medication management for adult and older adult patients
