Overview

The Sterile Processing Technician I ensures the highest quality standards are met by departmental procedures and established industry standards at Mass General Brigham.

In Short

• Wrap linen and other items according to department procedure.
• Inventory items prepared for Operating Room and restock shelves with sterilized items.
• Inspect and assemble basic instrument kits.
• Utilize a variety of computer systems for inventory control.
• Assist in the training of new staff and volunteers.
• Maintain Central Sterile Department stock levels.
• Decontaminate instruments and equipment according to procedure.
• Communicate instrument repair needs to supervisor.
• Participate in department quality improvement processes.
• Perform all duties in accordance with NWH Policies and Procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent education required.
• Effective written and verbal communications skills required.
• One year Sterile Processing/Central Processing experience preferred.
• Demonstrates knowledge of steam sterilization principles.
• Understanding of distribution systems utilized by the department.
• Ability to participate in quality improvement processes.
• Physical ability to perform the job requirements including lifting and standing for extended periods.
