Associate Operator - Remote

Overview

The NYISO’s Operations department invites applications for full-time, Associate Operators in our Grid Operations group. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team tasked with ensuring that the flow of electricity to New York’s people and business goes uninterrupted.

In Short

• Coordinate and monitor the flow of energy on the high voltage electrical grid.
• Work in a state-of-the-art control center.
• Respond to critical situations on the electrical grid.
• Support regional markets initiatives in real-time grid operations.
• Monitor inter-regional parallel flows and manage congestion.
• Ensure compliance with NERC Reliability Standards.
• Perform transaction scheduling and modifications.
• Communicate with external reliability coordinators.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives.
• Work in a rotating shift pattern to provide 24/7 coverage.

Requirements

• No industry-related experience required, but 3+ years of related technical training is encouraged.
• Strong analytical skills and experience with complex software systems.
• Must complete the NYISO Concept of Electric System Operator Course.
• Associate’s degree in Electrical Technology or related field desired.
• Ability to read and interpret operational documents.
• Intermediate competency in MS Office applications.
• Ability to perform calculations and solve practical problems.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff and external partners.
• Must maintain desk qualification under NERC standards.
• Ability to work in a rotating shift environment.
