Overview

The Patient Referral Coordinator processes referrals from referring providers and new patients, ensuring a smooth flow of the referral and scheduling process while embodying the mission and values of the organization.

In Short

  • Handles referrals from providers and patients needing follow-up appointments.
  • Gathers necessary demographic and insurance information on patients.
  • Confirms patient insurance verification and eligibility for new patients.
  • Registers all new patients into the system.
  • Prepares and organizes new patient charts.
  • Schedules new patients according to physician guidelines.
  • Cancels/reschedules appointments as necessary.
  • Serves as a receptionist, providing information and routing calls.
  • Ensures timely completion and submission of hospital charges for billing.
  • Performs other job functions as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a healthcare or medical office environment.
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with customers and staff.
  • Excellent multitasking and attention to detail skills.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise judgment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Proficient in Windows-based applications, especially Excel and Word.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
