PostgreSQL Database Administrator - Remote

Overview

Evernorth is seeking a skilled PostgreSQL Database Administrator (Database Administrator Senior Advisor) with experience in both cloud (AWS/Azure) and on-premise environments. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in systems administration, performance tuning, and Linux server management.

In Short

• Administer and maintain AWS Aurora, Azure, and PostgreSQL database servers.
• Perform database performance tuning and optimization.
• Develop and maintain monitoring and alerting systems.
• Design and implement redundancy, failover, and backup strategies.
• Support database software upgrades and patching.
• Mentor team members on AWS Aurora, Azure, and PostgreSQL.
• Provide recommendations on best practices.
• Participate in an on-call rotation for production issues.
• Stay current with emerging database and cloud technologies.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders for enterprise-level solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Strong understanding of AWS networking concepts.
• Hands-on experience with scripting and automation tools.
• Proven experience in database performance tuning and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of tools like DPA, Etcd, HAProxy, Patroni, and pgBackRest.
• Excellent collaboration skills across cross-functional teams.
• Strong problem-solving and facilitation skills.
• Self-motivated with a proactive approach to improvement.
• AWS Cloud Practitioner and Certified Database certifications are a plus.
