Senior Staff Software Engineer - Banking and Money Movement - Remote

Overview

Marqeta is looking for a talented Senior Staff Software Engineer to independently identify and deliver software solutions on our Banking and Money Movement Team through a set of milestones spanning a specific product focus or a multi-component system. You will own and deliver projects in service of quarterly goals on the team and independently identify solutions to ambiguous, open-ended problems. You will work in collaboration with your team and cross-functional partners.

The Banking and Money Movement engineering team develops and optimizes financial services, including account creation, transaction processing, payment systems, banking integrations, reporting, and reconciliation. We work collaboratively to ensure secure, efficient, and innovative solutions that meet regulatory standards and enhance user experiences in moving the money.

We work Flexible First. This role can be performed remotely within the Ontario or British Columbia areas. We’d love for you to join us!

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in backend engineering.
• 3+ years of experience with payments or the FinTech space.
• Proven experience leading technical projects.
• Deep expertise in backend technologies (e.g., Java, Python).
• Experience with large-scale, high-performance systems.
• Ability to break down complex business problems.
• Strong track record of designing and building robust systems.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience in mentoring and guiding engineers.
