Overview

The Oramenta Newsome Community Development Fellowship is a ten-week full-time paid opportunity for individuals interested in community development, focusing on affordable housing, economic development, sustainability, and safety projects in the D.C. region.

In Short

  • Ten-week full-time paid fellowship.
  • Focus on community development in D.C., Prince George’s County, or Northern Virginia.
  • Work with local nonprofit organizations.
  • Support local small businesses and community initiatives.
  • Conduct outreach and gather data from stakeholders.
  • Participate in a comprehensive orientation and mentorship program.
  • Expected start in May 2025.
  • Paid at a rate of $22 per hour.
  • Work approximately 35 hours per week.
  • Engage in various community development tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of community development issues preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in community outreach.
  • Ability to work collaboratively.
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks.
  • Willingness to work in person at least 3 days a week.
  • Familiarity with the DC region is a plus.
  • Conversational fluency in additional languages is helpful.
